Northern Mindanao is considered as one of the resource-rich regions in the country.
It is characterized by a very irregular coastline with a terrain that grows rough towards the
interior. Its typhoon-free climate and favorable peace and order makes the region
a favorite investment and tourist haven.
The region serves as a gateway to Mindanao, linking the island to the rest of the country
and the world, in terms of local and international trading through its international standard
seaport in Cagayan de Oro and supporting seaport in Ozamiz City. It is also served by
a trunkline airport in the regional capital (Cagayan de Oro).
